The use of battery certificates in electric vehicles has been proven to improve trust and interest in used models, according to new data from Volteras.
Conducting a six-month trial, the data specialist used only Tesla 3 models up for auction with the same CAP ID, similar age and mileage profile for the experiment, adding their State of Health certificate in a controlled number of vehicles.
Teslas with the certificate saw 20% more advert views, 34% more unique views and 10% more bids – with unique bidders increasing by 4% compared to Teslas without it.
Prices between both certificated and non-certificated cars remained the same, but faster sales were reported for models with the certificate.
This trial demonstrates that UK motorists in the market for a used car value transparency when it comes to electric vehicles, and that the UK is making progress towards ensuring more information about used EVs is made accessible to the public.
AX’s EV Battery Longevity & Post-Accident Outcomes report further highlights the importance of introducing legislation that focus on the transparency of EV battery health becoming an industry standard practice, and how features such as battery certification will build trust when it comes to EV purchasing.
Helping motorists in the transition to electric vehicles, ICE car drivers in need of a replacement vehicle can benefit from AX’s latest initiative, Evaluate, which allows motorists to select an EV to gain a real-world extended experience to see if making the switch would be viable.
