New research has revealed the top five most common repairs for electric vehicles in the UK.
The common faults, according to WarrantyWise, are for repairs that are seen on all vehicle types, and aren’t specific to powertrain, which may surprise some EV sceptics.
The only EV-specific repair type in the top five is the on-board charger, with other common issues including electrical faults, such as sensors and central locking mechanisms, auxiliary batteries and suspension-related components – all of which are found on any vehicle, EV or otherwise.
Despite concerns from UK motorists who are considering switching to electric cars, battery issues were seen relatively infrequently according to the study, giving a more balanced picture to the current reality of EV maintenance and repairs.
While the research found that the most common EV and ICE repairs matched more closely than drivers might expect, it is important for incident management partners to provide services for every kind of vehicle and powertrain.
