Now your car has been inspected and suggested a total loss, we will email the engineers report to the at fault insurer for review. We will also request they raise payment for the total loss of your vehicle as soon as possible.
How long will this take?
We can’t give any guarantee on timescales, but rest assured we will chase this and keep you updated. As and when we do chase this or get any updates, you will be notified.
How long can I keep the hire car for?
Whilst your damage claim is being dealt with, you can carry on using the hire car as you have been. Once the interim payment has been received from the at fault insurer, we will notify you and you can then remain in the hire car for a further 7 days. *Please note the 7 days commences as of when whoever the payment is sent to initially.
Can I keep the hire car until I’ve received the salvage payment from Copart?
Unfortunately not, the 7 days commences from when the interim payment has been received from the at fault insurer. If however the at fault insurer is dealing with your salvage, you can remain in the hire car until you have received all the payments from them you are entitled to.
Can I keep the hire car whilst I’m disputing the valuation?
Whilst we will do all we can to assist you with your valuation dispute, if a payment is received from the at fault insurer whilst this dispute is ongoing, we will need to collect the hire car in accordance with when the payment was received. However we will still support you with your valuation dispute, even when we have collected the hire car.
Why do I have to give the hire car back after 7 days?
AX are authorised and regulated by the Association of British Insurers General Terms of Agreement. The agreement states that once the total loss payment has been received, the hire car period must end no later than 7 days after. Following this period, the at fault insurer no longer have to fund the hire charges.
